About SEWA

The Socio Educational Welfare Association (SEWA) is devoted to improving the quality of life of those in need, mainly in the north-eastern region of India, irrespective of their origin, faith, or gender. SEWA attempts to facilitate the community of this tea growing region for access to better working conditions as well as improved access to water, sanitation, and hygiene. SEWA right from inception emphasised thematic interventions on health, gender-based violence, mental health, HIV prevention, disaster risk reduction, responsible business behaviour in tea sector, climate change, sustainable livelihoods, employment generation through skill training, elderly caregiving, women’s empowerment, etc. SEWA is advocating for the rights of children living in tea plantations and social safeguards for poor and vulnerable community. Our multidimensional development approach aims to transform communities into resilient communities and individuals into self-reliant.
